Every gacha game has its own unique combat system, allowing players to improve their gameplay and build a strong team. The recently released Wuthering Waves also has its own distinct combat system, although it shares some similarities with Zenless Zone Zero, it’s not completely the same. In this post, we’ve shared information about the elements and combat system of Zenless Zone Zero.
ZZZ Combat System
In Zenless Zone Zero, you can build a team with three agents, but you can only bring one character into battle at a time. However, you can swap characters to alter your team during the battle, similar to how you do it during the intro and outro.
Combat UI Elements
Here, you can see the HP, energy, and damage of your agents, which are highlighted on the gameplay screen. Let’s understand what this is all about.
HP
Each agent has their own HP, which is crucial during battles. It’s important to prevent the HP of your agents from decreasing too much during the fight so that they can continue to participate effectively.
Energy
- Regaining energy for each agent is essential.
- When agents perform basic attacks, dodge counters, and dash attacks, energy is regained.
- Smashing supply chests and grabbing energy matter from fallen enemies boosts the squad’s energy.
Daze
In the combat system, daze is a crucial ability.
When you attack the enemy, they accumulate Daze. Once Daze reaches 100%, they become immobilized and unable to retaliate effectively.
ZZZ Combat Skills
In Zenless Zone Zero, there are some combat skills of the agents for which a complete explanation has been shared.
Basic Attack
Each agent has a different basic attack. When you press the basic attack button, multiple basic attacks are launched at once, almost around 5. Some characters combine their basic attack with a dodge to quickly regain energy.
Special Attack
Special attacks are more powerful than normal attacks and can be executed without cooldown. However, for EX Special Attack, you’ll need a full energy bar or sufficient energy. Special attacks have a heavy attack effect, and when used on a fully dazed enemy, they enable a chain attack.
Normal Special Attack cannot regain energy, so you should avoid using it excessively. Instead, you can focus more on using the EX Special Attack.
Chain Attack
Once the enemy in front is fully dazed, your agents become capable of launching a chain attack, for which you need at least 2 agents in the team to switch between them and initiate the chain attack.
To launch a Chain Attack, you’ll need to press the Agent Avatar in the Switch Attack section. Here, you’ll have a countdown time of 3 seconds, and you can see the Profile Icon in the bottom section.
Once this attack is perfectly launched, heavy damage will be inflicted on the enemy, which will end them in one go.
Ultimate
By continuously using Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, Assist Follow-Up, Chain Attack, and Special Attack on the enemy, you can fill up the Decibel Rating gauge.
Once the Decibel Rating reaches 3,000, the Ultimate button will start highlighting to indicate its activation. When you press the Ultimate button, the Decibel Rating energy will be released, dealing heavy damage to the enemy.
The Ultimate Skill will only become active once the Decibel Rating reaches its maximum.
Dodge
- Press the Dodge button to evade the enemy’s attack.
- During the Basic Attack and Dodge, you can also perform a Dash Attack.
When the enemy attacks the agent, using Dodge Counter immediately avoids the attack and retaliates with a counterattack.
Switch Agent
In every team, there are 3 agents, and you’ll need to switch between them. By pressing the Agent Switch Button, you can switch to another agent, and the Agents Bar is located in the top left corner.
Assist Attack
With the Assist Attack, you can switch from another agent to the current agent and immediately launch an attack. There are different types of Assist Attacks available, such as Reactive Assist, Defensive Assist, and Assist Follow-Up.
Reactive Assist: Switching from another agent to the current agent knocks back the enemy and deals 100+ points of damage.
Defensive Assist: After switching, it blocks the enemy’s attack.
Assist Follow-Up: It enters Defense Mode, but once there’s an opening, it launches a Basic Attack.
