What Is Shiyu Defense in Zenless Zone Zero?

Shiyu Defense in Zenless Zone Zero is an end-game mode similar to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss and Wuthering Waves‘ Tower of Adversity. The first 10 levels/Stage of Shiyu Defense are easy, featuring battles against enemies of various elements like Fire, Ice, Electric, Ether, and Physical types. You need to defeat these enemies within a certain time period to earn in-game rewards.

In this mode, the time period is very important. If you clear the enemies in less than 360 seconds, you’ll get an S Grade. Clearing within 240 seconds earns you an A Grade, and beyond that, you’ll get a B Grade. As you progress through each stage, the game gets harder, and enemies become more powerful. You’ll have the chance to build your crucial team for each stage.

For example, you might be asked to build a team focused on Physical and Electric characters.

How to Unlock Shiyu Defense in Zenless Zone Zero?

Before unlocking Shiyu Defense mode, you must complete the Inter-Knot Reputation Rank-Up Mission. Once done, you’ll become eligible to unlock Shiyu Defense and also unlock Driver Validation.

Once Shiyu Defense is unlocked, it’s crucial to first increase the level of your agents. This is because after completing the initial levels of this end-game mode, it becomes harder, and each stage has a time limit that determines the rewards you receive.

How to Start Shiyu Defense in Zenless Zone Zero?

Before entering Shiyu Defense mode, make sure your agents are leveled up and ready to battle powerful enemies. Additionally, ensure you have compatible Bangboos to deal extra damage to enemies. Before starting the battle in Shiyu Defense mode, it’s crucial to be aware of the time limit, as it will help you earn full rewards and unlock the next stage efficiently.

1. Defeat Enemies Within a Time Limit

In the Shiyu Defense end-game mode, you must defeat all enemies within a specified time limit. Based on your performance within this time frame, you will receive a rating that determines your rewards and unlocks the next stage. Achieving victory within 360 seconds earns you an Grade, which is a perfect score.

2. Stable Nodes and Critical Nodes

In Shiyu Defense, there are two types of nodes: Stable and Critical. Stable nodes represent stages that are permanently available for clearing at any time. On the other hand, Critical nodes reset and update periodically within a specified period.

3. Build Team Boost Attribute

In each stage, there are different enemies with different weaknesses and resistances. The Boost Attribute section will inform you about which elements/attributes of agents and Bangboo you should focus on for building your team effectively against these enemies. You can click on the info icon to learn about the enemies in the current stage. There, you’ll find information about their weaknesses and resistances.

4. Follow Node’s Special Rules

In Shiyu Defense, each node has specific rules that help agents defeat enemies within the time limit and achieve the highest grade possible. If you follow these rules honestly, completing the stage and achieving an grade won’t be difficult, but you need to focus on combo battles.
